Maury Povich

Maurice Richard “Maury” Povich is an American TV talk show host who currently hosts his self-titled talk show, Maury. Povich was born in Washington, D.C. His paternal grandfather, Nathan Povich, immigrated from Lithuania to the United States in 1878.
In addition to hosting The Maury Povich Show, later renamed Maury, Povich was honored by New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani in 1995 for raising awareness of National Adoption Month; hosted the primetime revival of the classic game show, Twenty One on NBC; and co-hosted a weekend news program with his wife, Connie Chung.

John C. Reilly

Reilly was born in Chicago, Illinois, son of an Irish American Father and a Lithuanian American mother. He is an alumnus of DePaul University in Chicago.
To date, Reilly has appeared in more than fifty films, including three separate films in 2002 (all three were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture). He has been nominated for An Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Chicago and a Grammy Award for the song, “Walk Hard,” Which he performed in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

Arvydas Sabonis

Sabonis is widely regarded as, if not one of the best centers in the history of basketball, then the center with the greatest array of skills that ever played. Arvydas Romas Sabonis was born in Kaunas, Lithuania on December 19, 1964. He won a gold medal in the 1988 Olympics in South Korea where he had to play on the Soviet team since Lithuania had not yet regained its independence. However, in 1992 and 1996, he played in the Olympics on his native Lithuanian team and won two bronze medals.
Sabonis was named European Player of the Year eight times. He played in many different leagues, including seven seasons in the NBA where he performed with distinction despite numerous serious injuries earlier in his career. On August 20, 2010, Sabonis was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding performance in international competition. Sabonis was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame in 2011. on remaining 39 years old on stage despite his actual age, and often playing the violin badly.

J.D. Salinger

Jerome David Salinger was born in Manhattan, New Year’s Day, 1919. His paternal grandfather, Simon, was born in Lithuania.
J.D. Salinger was an American author, best known for his 1951 novel, The Catcher in the Rye. His depiction of adolescent alienation and loss of innocence in the protagonist Holden Caufield was influential, especially among adolescent readers. His other well-known novels include, Raise High the Roof Beam,Carpenters and Seymour: An Introduction.

Bill Sarpalius

William “Bill” Sarpalius is a former Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives, having represented From 1989 to 1995 District 13, which covers the Texas Panhandle eastward to Wichita Falls, Texas.In 1980, Sarpalius successfully ran for a seat in the Texas State Senate. He served in this body until 1989, having been Elected in 1988 to the national Congress. As a Lithuanian American, Sarpalius was actively involved in calling for American aid to the newly independent country of Lithuania. Because of his efforts, he was awarded the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gedeminas by the President of Lithuania in 1998.

Zydrunas Savickas

Zydrunas Savickas, from Birzai, Lithuania, is a professional strongman and is widely considered one of the all-time greatest athletes in the history of the sport.
Zydrunas is the only modern strongman competitor to have won every major modern strongman competition, most notably the Arnold Strongman Classic on six consecutive occasions, the IFSA World Championship twice, Fortissimus in 2009, and is a 2 time World’s Strongest Man champion in 2009 & 2010. Zydrunas placed 2nd at the 2011 World’s Strongest Man competition.

Jack Sharkey

World Boxing Heavy Weight Champion Jack Sharkey (October 26, 1902 – August 17, 1994) was born to Lithuanian immigrants in Binghamton, New York. He got his start boxing while in the Navy, quickly becoming the best boxer on every ship he served.
On June 21, 1932, Jack defeated German boxer Max Schmeling at Madison Square Garden in a title match. Although he held the title for just one year, Jack is remembered to have been the only man who fought both Jack Dempsey and Joe Louis.
He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1994 and died a few months later, at the ripe age of 91.

John M. Shimkus is serving his 8th term in Congress and Represents the 19th District of Illinois, one of the largest geographic districts east of the Mississippi River.

Juozas Statkevicius is the most prominent Lithuanian fashion designer. In addition, he is also a renowned theater costume designer, professional hair stylist, and face painter.
Statkevicius is the first Lithuanian designer who has presented his designs on the pages of Vogue, L’Officiel, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar fashion magazines. Famous women who wear the clothes made by Statkevicius include the wife of former President Adamkus, President of the Republic of Latvia, Vaira Vyke-Feiberga, wife of Prince Frederick of Denmark Princess Mary, and celebrities, such as Bjork, Kyra Sedgwick, Naomi Watts, Nicole Richie, Audrey Butvay-Gruss, Krista Bard, and Svetlana Gryaznova.

Jason Sudeikis

Sudeikis was born Daniel Jason Sudeikis in Fairfax, Virginia, the son of Kathryn and Dan Sudeikis. His uncle is actor George Wendt, who is best known for his role as Norm Peterson from Cheers. He is of Lithuanian descent on his father’s side and German and Irish on his mother’s.
Jason Sudeikis is an American actor and comedian best known For starring as a cast member on Saturday Night Live. He also Has had a notable breakthrough in the film industry in 2011, Starring in Hall Pass, Horrible Bosses, and A Good Old Fashioned Orgy.
