TOPIC: 4K Home Movies: Storing and Playback?

Hi all,
I recently purchased the Sony AX53 4K camcorder. I think I love it (but it's still early).

What do the smart home movie shooters use to organize video files? Also a smooth way to playback a group of clips together (ie- 'Bozo's birthday party')?

I've spent many hours checking out VLC, iTunes, iMovie, MacMediaPlayer and others, with only frustration. Sony's 'PlayMemories' is not answering my questions (and their customer service is awful).

-How to manage many hundreds of video files on an external hard drive (I can download them OK from the camera)
-Is there an automatic label/titling system to chronologically store the clips?
-The apps mentioned above might play many clips consecutively, but all seem to freeze the image for a moment before the next clip starts (the camera plays them much more smoothly but I can't store all those on the camera)
